You never know what you're gonna find when you go offshore, sometimes you get surprised!

Things seemed like they were going to be slow this morning, so I worked to the east, in hopes of catching the tail end of the good wahoo fishing that we've. had lately. The first action we had was catching one out of a tripple on sailfish. That was pretty cool, so I circled back and that time we hooked a small blue marlin, 150 pounder. After releasing him, we stuck around in hopes of finding a white marlin to complete our grand slam, but honestly, I never heard of one seen in the fleet today. There were a few sails and a few other blue marlin seen though. The meat fishing was a little slow where we were, but we got an assortment of two wahoos, one dolphin, one blackfin tuna, and one king mackerel. There was a sign of dolphin showing up to the south.

It was a little on the choppy side today, but we still managed to get a nice catch of wahoos.

I guess we caught about half of our bites, and wound up with five wahoos. Most everybody caught a few, but there wasn't much else to go with them. A few sailfish bites, and a few dolphin, but a very few. Eventhough it was choppy, the 20 knot northeaster felt cool!

No, I haven't given up on my fishing reoports, I simply had no bookings last week. It was good to get back out today.

Today you had your pick of wahoo action or billfish action. I figured that going for the wahoos would give my group more action, and certainly more fish to take home. We had a fair ammount of wahoo action in the morning, but it was pretty dead for us in the afternoon. We did catch four, the biggest earned a citation at 42 pounds. We also released a sailfish as an extra bonus. After the morning rain squalls moved thru, we had a nice northeast breeze that kept us cool during the day.

I normally don't fish on my Sundays anymore, but yesterday was so windy, and my group had driven down from DC to go out. I spent yesterday with my family and took my group today. It was a beautiful day.

We left pretty early, since we wanted to get in early and get our party on the road. I found some grass patches that had some dolphin around them, but they were very uncooperative (the dolphins, not the party). We scrapped a few, and moved on offshore, in the hopes of finding something better. I turned around just shy of 200 fathoms, fished around in some scattered grass, but no bites. I worked back inshore wher I started, and wound up scrapping out a pretty nice catch. We had close to 40 dolphin, one wahoo, one king mackerel, one blackfin tuna, and a couple false albacores. Good afternoon action. These guys were a hoot, more people should have fun like they did!<

I got a kick out of my group this morning. When I asked them what they wanted to do they said they wanted groceries!

Obviosly I had my mind set on meat fish today, and we found plenty of dolphin. They were'nt the most cooperative, but we wound up with around 50 anyway. They were nice size bailers. What a hoot. These guys had a blast. Nothing like having fun. See you next time!

There was a good sign of bills again today, but we didn't get many turns.

I had a group of five kids today, so I knew that dolphins were in order. There was plenty of grass, and conditions favorable for finding them, but they were really scarce. We did find a school and caught twenty out of it, first thing. There was a pretty fair ammount of marlin action around us, so I decided to commit the rest of the morning to marlin fishing. Finally we raised a covey of sails, but when the smoke cleared, we had nothing. In the afternoon we worked back inshore, and did find another school of dolphin, but only landed five of them. Fortunately they were nice size fish, and all the boys got to catch a few. It was a beautiful day!

It was a pretty day today, and there was a pretty good marlin bite, but it was by invitation only.

Since I had kids in my group, I wanted especially to find some dolphin. The northwest wind felt nice, but the grass was streaked out and hard to fish. I found a couple good size schools of big bailers and small gaffers, but it was hard to keep their interest since we were a little shorthanded. Nonetheless, we wound up with twenty or so, before going after something bigger. We did have two confirmed billfish bites, maybe a third. They were whites or sails, I couldn't identify which. There were plenty of guys who didn't catch any, but several of the boats had three or four. That's marlin fishing. Anyway, we worked inshore in the afternoon and did manage to pick off a wahoo on our way through.

It was like a lake out there today, and we had no shortage of dolphin action.

I was on the eastern end of the fleet this morning, which seemed to be the wrong end, so I spent most of the morning looking around, and getting in a better location. By the middle of the day, I had begun to round up some dolphin, and after a couple of stops, finished off our limit. We did have a couple bites in the morning that were likely to have been wahoos, and in the afternoon we raised a sailfish, but he wouldn't eat.

Our mission today was to catch enough fish to feed the 24 family members present for the Risser family reunion. I don't think anyone will go hungry!

Since it was blowing southwest, better than 20 this morning, I gave my normal choppy day speech. Since these are special friends, I gave it twice. They took a vote, and decided that they wanted to fish. It was fine with me, so off we went. No one was dissappointed, it was plenty rough. The dolphins were almost non-existant today, only one boat found any, and for the most part, wahoos were the primary target. I wouldn't call it ''red hot'' fishing, but it was a fairly steady bite. I figured that we probably had 14 wahoo bites for the day. We managed to land six wahoos and a king mackerel. We also released a couple of barracudas. I'm sure no one will be let down when they sink their teeth into some of that fresh wahoo off the grill! Anyway, everyone in my group hung in there, and made a great day of it. Thanks guys!

I found a great area to fish this morning, and was the only boat around, but the fish were uncooperative.

I fished for 16 miles on a color change / grass line, and there were some dolphin along it, but getting them to bite was another story. We did have seven or eight wahoo bites, and landed four of them, so that was pretty cool. I found several schools of dolphin, but even the ones that came up to the back of the boat didn't stick around long, and were reluctant to bite. We caught a handful of them anyway. It was a hot day, at least there was a little breeze.

I started out in a dead hole this morning, but got in better position for some afternoon action.

My game plan was to head south for some of the better wahoo action reported yesterday, but we trolled till after 11:00 before having our first bite. the boats on the eastern end had good dolphin fishing, and a scattered wahoo bite, so I worked that way. Our first bite was a wahoo, and I was glad to see him! After that we found a couple pretty good schools of dolphin, and wound up with around 40 or so. A couple of kings finished off another beautiful day.

It was a scorcher today, and the fishing hadn't cooled off much either.

We started off bailing some dolphin around some patches of grass in 70 fathoms, but for the ammount of grass, the dolphins weren't very cooperative. We gave up after 25. It was a short troll to the hundred, and it wasn't long till we had a crack at a white marlin, which we successfully landed and released. There were a few billfish bites around, but after a couple hours with no action on our boat, they were getting a little antsy. I worked back inshore and found a beautiful school of dolphin, and we finished up on our limit. We didn't have any other trolling bites, but there was a scattered wahoo around, better to the south.

Fishing was great today!

We spent the morning marlin fishing, and never had a shot. That doesn't mean that the marlin fishing was bad, it was actually pretty good. We just didn't have any luck. Anyway, around lunchtime, I went looking for some dolphin, and was successful. We limited out on big bailers, and a couple small gaffers. No wahoo bites, but still a great catch!

First of all, the sunrise this morning was so interesting that I had to snap a shot. Next, the dolphin fishing was great, but I fished up to the east, the only boat, and probably had the best of the dolphin fishing, but the boats to the south got some marlin action today. I think we may have a marlin trip tomorrow, so we'll see.<scrip

Today I had a group from just up the road, well, a couple hours up the road. Anyway these North Carolinians had some good dolphin and wahoo action.

I was fortunate to find some grass patches that were holding a few dolphin this morning, because the northeast wind had most of the grass blown out and all streaked up, making it almost impossible to pull a stand of baits through it. Anyhow, we managed to bail a half a limit of dolphin before we got serious about wahoo fishing. Our batting average was pretty good, we were six out of seven on the wahoos, then we missed the next four or five before I was asked to head in. All in all, these guys had a good day of fishing, and plenty to take back to Williamston.
