After what seemed like a month, we finally got back offshore, but the fishing was on the slow side. The bottom fish bailed us out once again.

We missed a sailfish while setting our lines out this morning, and after that I fished down the southern break for five miles, with only one bite (probably a wahoo), but we missed him. I tried a few bottom drops, and we scored with a handful of silver snappers, a few triggers, and one nice amberjack. Ten miles of trolling back up 80-90 fathoms only produced three dolphin, so I tried another bottom spot. We caught a couple of nice snowy groupers and an almaco jack at that spot. My group will eat good tonight!

You've heard the saying ''any port in a storm'', well, we found safe harbor today catching big groupers off the bottom!

The morning trolling bite was a little slow, we did catch one nice wahoo out of a couple of bites, but my group asked about trying some bottom fishing, and it was great. We caught our limit of snowy groupers, 15-20 pounders, one gag grouper, one tilefish, and possibly the most beautiful fish I have ever caught, which I was told was a long finned bass. While we were bouncing led, there was a pretty good billfish bite, a handful of blue marlin and sails seen. I'm not disappointed with what we did though, my group had a ball and so did I!

Ok, it's hard to feel any pressure when you start your day catching a tripple on sailfish. I mean, you can just go on in and call it a great day! We managed to get two of them in the boat for pictures, but got the release on all three. After that we were fortunate to find a couple of semi-cooperative schools of dolphin. I think we got somewhere close to 30, including a couple gaffers. Really, we were fortunate to find the dolphin, I don't think most of the boats were as lucky with them. There was a scattered wahoo caught, we had a couple of bites, and missed them both. Great friends and great fishing.

We found a lot of dolphin again today, but most of them were not as eager to cooperate.

On the way out I spotted some grass, gave it a try and the bailers were there. 26 to be exact, not bad by 7:30. Little did we know that we would work the rest of the day for just a few more. I found a couple of pretty impressive schools out in the deep, but the didn't want to bite. We did land one nice gaffer, which was a good fight on a TLD. There were a few sails seen again today, but we didn't have a shot.

I know it's fall, cool northwest breeze, college football, but somebody forgot to tell the fish that it's not still summer!

I fished east of most of the fleet today, more to get away from the crowd than anything else. There was a scattered wahoo bite, and a pretty good showing of sails, but somehow I wound up out in the deep scrounging around in some scattered grass. We found plenty of dolphin, in fact we caught our limit, or within a couple. These were nice big bailers, and it was a barrel full! I worked back inshore in the afternoon, and got whammed by a covey of sails. When the smoke cleared, we hung on to one on a TLD, and who knows how many we pulled off on our wahoo baits. Anyway, another great day offshore.

Fishing was pretty good today, especially the dolphin fishing.

The winds were out of the northwest 20-25 this morning, so when I finally found some grass, it was streaked out the worst it's ever been. We fished the break for a while, and caught one wahoo, and released a barracuda. Working back inshore, I noticed a faint rip forming up, so I tried to follow it down the beach. We came across two big schools of dolphin, but they were reluctant to bite. I went as far south as I cared to, dropped offshore of the change ½ mile, and started working back up the beach. We got lucky and caught one out of a doubleheader sailfish. The second fish wouldn't go for the switch. Anyway, looking back inshore, I could see the grass getting tighter on the rip, so I dropped back in to look around for more dolphin. This time they cooperated. It took a couple of schools, but we managed to catch 60. Nice size bailers too. By the afternoon, the wind had fallen out, and it looks like tomorrow is going to be real nice.

Today was the third day in a row this group fished with me, and not only did they nail the weather, the fishing was great too!

This morning there was a scattered wahoo bite for most everyone. For us, the action was great, but we had one of those ''poor averages'' days. Get this, we landed two out of fourteen bites! At least the two we caught were nice ones, in fact one of them made citation weight, right at 40 pounds. We didn't do much in the afternoon, but the blue water had shoved in so far that I decided to pick up and run inshore, in search of a color change. It turned out to be a good decision as we found some good dolphin fishing, landing half a limit of bailers, and one nice gaffer. Once again, another beautiful day in the gulfstream. I have the next few days open if anybody wants to get out there for some good action.

Let me just say for the record that it doesn't get any prettier than today. Calm seas and an insignificant ammount of current.

We pulled off a couple wahoo bites this morning, and as I trolled off the break, the water temperature cooled off. I decided to point her offshore for a while, in the hopes of finding a good edge. As I crossed the hundred, I couldn't help but take a look around my favorite grouper spot, since I was in the neighborhood. They were there, and with a slack current, I couldn't resist. We did well, and passed the rest of the morning catching groupers and tilefish. We caught our limit of snowy groupers (8 fish, 1 per person), and a 24 pound warsaw grouper. We landed a dozen grey tiles, and one sand tile, which was the first of those I have ever caught. We also caught a few almaco jacks, which resemble an amberjack. We decided to go back to trolling, and that worked out pretty well too. We caught three out of seven wahoo bites and a dolphin for the afternoon. What a day!

We had good fishing in the morning, but by lunchtime, things had dried up for us.

It was kind of a drizzly southeaster, a little swelly, but not too awful bad. We caught a wahoo on our first bait in the water (gotta love starting out like that!), and had quite a few more bites after that. We caught seven wahoos, a few of the smaller ones around a float. We also caught three dolphin around the same float. We caught a sailfish, and missed another one later in the day. Oh, almost forgot one king mackerel too. For some reason we couldn't get a bite in the afternoon, but there were still a few bites around.<sc<sc
