Today was nicer than yesterday, and the fishing was pretty good too!

We spent most of the day in the deep, where we put together a nice catch of dolphin, mostly gaffers. The biggest one was a nice 25 pounder! We worked back inshore in the afternoon to get involved with the blackfin action that had been going on all morning, but it shut off shortly after we arrived. We did have a brief blue marlin encounter on a short rigger, but it was too brief! He paddled under the bait for a while and never really attempted to eat. Thanks for a nice day offshore George!

Today we survived a Hatteras Southeaster!

Southeasters make for a long bouncy ride to the fishing grounds, and tend to scatter all the grass, making it very difficult to fish. Today we had all of the above. We did start our day with some excitement as we released a spearfish. I wish that I could have snapped a shot before he swam off, because he was beautiful! We trudged around in the grass and managed to scrap out a nice handful of gaffers, and lost quite a few others. We also caught a couple of blackfins near the end of the day. There were a couple blue marlins caught in our fleet today as well! It was great to see you guys again Anthony, and I look forward to the next trip!

The morning started out perfect. Calm seas and great dolphin fishing!

We had the bulk of our action before 11:00. We wound up with a great catch of dolphin, mostly gaffers. There was a pretty nasty line of thunderstorms that moved in from offshore, but we were able to avoid the worst of it. The winds picked up however, and the lined up grass that we had been fishing along became a scattered mess. I was hoping to scare up a wahoo, and we finally did hook one this afternoon, but he won the fight. Thanks for a great day offshore Dave!

We have been blessed with nice weather for the last few days, and have enjoyed three fun days offshore with new friends!

Today, Garry expressed interest in doing some bottom dropping, so after surveying the amount of current, we tried a couple of spots. We had pretty good action with vermillion snappers, silver snappers and triggerfish in the short time that we bottom fished. Fishing was better today, and after hearing reports of action around the fleet, we decided to go back to trolling. We wound up with a dozen dolphin, mostly gaffers. We did have a nice wahoo crash a flatline, but we didn't catch him. Also Don fought a big gaffer dolphin to within 20 feet from the boat before the hook tore out and he got away...bummer. Anyway, besides a few hours of rain during the day, it was a fun time! Thanks again for spending the last three days with us Garry, and I hope to see you guys again soon!

My favorite reports to write are the ones that talk of beautiful weather and great fishing. I wish today's report could be one of those, but it wasn't quite that good.

It was a reasonable nice day, although it was pretty rainy in the morning. The rain cleared up however, and the seas were fairly calm. The winds were a little breezy from the north, and I've gotta tell you that I was chilly all day! Anyway, I headed pretty far south in hopes that there may be one or two hungry wahoos left down there. We never had a wahoo bite, and after fishing along a beautiful current edge for over ten miles, we had only managed to catch five dolphin. My guys were bored and requested some inshore fishing for the afternoon, so we headed back in to the inlet where the blues were biting. By quitting time everybody was smiling! Hopefully the offshore fish will cooperate better tomorrow!

Today was a very nice, cool day. Fishing was good as well.

I found a couple nice schools of dolphin this morning, mostly gaffers, and we did pretty good considering that there were only two in my group. After catching twenty or so, I pushed offshore to find something different. Out to 250 fathoms and back with one mystery bite, so I decided to look around for a wahoo. As far as I know there wasn't a wahoo caught today between the three of us that were out, but we did have a couple yellowfin bites and managed to land one. Thanks for a great day Garry and Don! You simply can't beat great weather AND fishing!

Things were a little crowded offshore today, so I picked a spot that wasn't jammed up with boats and started. There was a scattered wahoo bite around the fleet, and within an hour or two, we had caught two out of four bites. After a pretty good spell without a bite, I decided to take my chances in the deep. There had been a few dolphin reported in some scattered grass, so I was hoping to get lucky. We caught one or two a couple different times, but it wasn't anything to write home about. Persistence paid off, and 33 miles offshore I finally found what I had hoped to find. My dynamic duo of Vince and Kim managed to catch their limit of bailer and gaffer dolphin. I know it's only April, but I wasn't gonna tell the dolphin! Vince, it was great to see you again, and I look forward to seeing you guys back real soon!

Today I had the pleasure of fishing with my old friend Mark, who brought his sons Blake and Cole for a beautiful day offshore.

I headed to where I thought we may find some blackfins for the boys to catch, but fishing was pretty slow for us. Both of the boys did catch a dolphin, and Blake broke the ice with his first tuna! Frank caught a 23 pound citation blackfin and a dolphin too! Thanks again Mark. It was great fishing with you and I look forward to some bailers this summer with the boys!

After all the warm weather, the last couple days have been a switch. Today the wind was blowing northwest 25, but forecasted to diminish by lunchtime. We talked it over and decided to give it a go.

Once we got to the fishing grounds, well, it was still windy, but plenty fishable. My group was tough and seemed to enjoy the whole day. Fishing wasn't as good as it has been, but everybody got to land a quality fish. We caught two wahoos and three gaffer dolphin. We had a few other dolphin encounters but that was about it. Thanks for bringing the kids Neil, and I look forward to meeting Ruby next time!

The wahoo fishing continued to be great today!

We had some pretty great wahoo fishing today, mostly this morning. We wound up landing nine out of fourteen bites! There were a few dolphin and blackfins caught in the mix, as well as one sailfish, but the wahoos were definitely at the top today. Thanks again Aaron, I'll see you again soon!

Most of the fleet headed east this morning after a report of outstanding yellowfin fishing yesterday!

When we hit the blue water we were disappointed to find that the current had picked up and the bite had shut off. Everybody managed to catch a fish or two, but just barely. We caught a couple of blackfins, one oceanic bonito and a false albacore. One private boat that fished in a different area reported better action, so hopefully tomorrow will be better!

Today fishing was GREAT!

I'm not sure how many wahoo bites we had, but our batting average was well below 50%, and we still managed to catch six, including two citations, a 40 and a 42 pounder. We also had a lot of blackfin action, landing ten or so. Right at the end of the day we caught a lone gaffer dolphin, which was the only dolphin we saw today. It was a birthday trip for my ol' buddy Ronnie, so happy birthday!

We set our hopes on tuna action today, but the wahoos quickly took center stage!

We did catch four decent size blackfins this morning, but the area that we were fishing was quickly getting overtaken by cold green water. It was looking like the chances of catching more tuna were gonna be slim, and they were, but the wahoo action took it's place. We wound up catching six out of ten or twelve bites, including two citations. Mike caught a 59 pounder, which was just shy of the 61 pounder he caught with me in November. Glenn, on his first offshore trip, landed a 44 pounder which also earned him some paperwork. We did have a couple of dolphin bites, and there were a few others caught in the fleet, but the dolphin fishing wasn't as good today. Thanks again Mike and Daphne for another great day!

We got a good dose of north wind today, in excess of 25 till lunchtime.

The couple of boats that fished yesterday had excellent fishing, so we were anxious to get out there, rough or not. We knew it was gonna be a killer day when we hooked a wahoo on the first line in the water! The bites turned out to be fewer than expected, and after the wahoo, we caught one yellowfin and one small gaffer dolphin. We did miss a couple of tuna bites and pulled off one other nice fish, but overall it was slow. Fortunately the winds moderated by quittin' time and we had a nice ride home. Greg, you guys are the best. I hope to see you in September!
