Outer Banks Fishing ReportAug
6 Nothing came easy to us today, but we did wind up scrapping out a handful of dolphin and blackfin tuna.
I knew the pressure would be on when I was told that my guys were gonna have a fish fry at their church, and needed to feed 300 people! I covered a lot of ground today, trying to get in a spot where we could hammer some fish, but in the end, I think I would have been better off to have just stuck to one plan. I trolled off to 400 fathoms hoping to find a current edge/grassline, loaded with dolphin, but turned around defeated. Next we tried for some blackfins, but they weren't biting too well when we got there, so I went further inshore to a faint color change where we scrapped a few dolphin. I did work back off to try the blackfins again, and we did catch a handful, but it wasn't as good as it was yesterday. We had two unsuccessful sailfish encounters as well, but there were a few billfish encounters around the fleet. There was a very scattered wahoo bite as well. ![]() Fishing Blog Archive
