Outer Banks Fishing ReportAug
12 The weather was perfect today, light north wind, keeping it sunny but a little cooler. The fishing was still on the slow side, but keeping things in perspective, we are spoiled to have exceptionally good fishing most days.
We caught a handful of dolphin today, including a couple of small gaffers, but that would take in our catch for today. We had a mystery fish that briefly appeared behind a teaser, then popped out a shortrigger, and a longrigger next, but we never quite got a positive ID on him. Likely a sailfish, but we'll never know for sure. Some guys bottom fished, but my group wanted to stick with the trolling. There was a VERY scattered wahoo caught, and that was about it. As I said, keeping it in perspective, we had a gorgeous day and caught a handful of fish. Still a successful fishing adventure! ![]() ![]() Fishing Blog Archive
