Another First

Posted By Captain Dave in Fishing | Permalink | Comments
My buddy Mark showed up today, last time he fished with me, he caught his first white marlin.

We went to find his first bluefin tuna today, and man, what a gorgeous day. We covered a lot of ground without a bite, and finally caught a blackfin early in the afternoon. Around 2:15, we got struck by three bluefins, hooked two and landed one. Another first! Congratulations Mark, see you next month!

First Hand

Finally, I can report about the fishing, because I was there!

I went south today, simply because it hasn't been checked out in a while. We caught a couple nicer blackfins pretty quick, and I thought we were gonna be in for some good action. The albacores took over, and the blackfins shut off, so I worked offshore, hoping for a hail mary on some yellowfins in the deep. We didn't find any yellowfins, but we got whammed by the 60-80 pound bluefins, and caught six of them. The law says we can only keep two, so the other four were released. It was good action for a while! It was a pretty day, and I'm ready for some more!

Offshore Update

A couple boats fished today, and had fairly good action.

The weather was pretty nice, for a change, and I watched one boat unload a few blackfins, a few yellowfins, one bluefin (120 pounder), and a wahoo. He said they had several other tuna bites that they missed, and got bit off by two other wahoos. Sounds ok to me. Come on!

Cabin Fever

I know you are ready to get into some blue water, and catch some fish, so...come on!

I have had some calls lately, people antsy about going fishing, but their schedules never seem to line up with the weather. Lately there has been a sign of bluefin tunas, anywhere from 50 pounders up to fish in the 200 pound range. There have been a few wahoos caught, and some pretty good blackfin tuna fishing, along with some kings. Depending on the current, the bottom fishing would still be a good option too. If you want to make a late winter excursion, the Godspeed is ready to roll, just give me a call!
