Outer Banks Fishing ReportJul
31 It was another day of dodging squalls, and the light north winds that were forcasted were underestimated.
I was looking forward to pounding the wahoos today, and right after we set out, we caught our first bite, a wahoo. Well, it was a long time till our second bite, and I had covered a lot of bottom looking for a grass line or anything to fish around. We threw back a barracuda, and missed a couple other wahoo bites before I found some grass that was holding a pretty nice school of dolphin, mostly gaffers. Unfortunately during the long intermission, the coffee had worn off, and everybody was a little sluggish. We managed to land a half dozen, and I was glad to have them. By then the north-northeast wind was 20-25, and it had gotten fairly choppy. A couple of the guys did pretty good, but overall, it was a little slower today. ![]() ![]() Fishing Blog Archive
