Outer Banks Fishing ReportJul
30 Today wound up being a pretty nice day considering the squalls that were popping up all day. We didn't catch a whole lot, but the fishing was actually pretty good.
My buddy Tom put in a request for some marlin action, so I headed off to the deep to see what we could see. Once I got out over 250 fathoms, a line of thunder storms formed up inshore of me that held me off in the deep for a while. Once they moved in, I worked back in to the hundred to look around. We did hook a sailfish, and enjoyed a couple jumps out of him before he got away. Next I found a school of dolphin around a grass patch, and we got twenty or so to take home for supper. After lunch, and hearing the wahoo reports back in shallower, I worked that way to get us a couple of them in the afternoon. It was a great plan, and we had nine wahoo bites, but pulled every one off! Talk about bad luck. Anyway, we had a slick calm day, caught some fish, saw a billfish, avoided the lightning, and made it home safe. ![]() Fishing Blog Archive
