Outer Banks Fishing ReportApr
30 Fishing was a little scrappy today, but everybody wound up with a handful of fish.
I had a game plan this morning when I left the inlet, and everthing went as planned. I got to my designated spot, had it all to myself, only trouble was, there weren't any fish there today! We missed a shot at a sailfish on a shortrigger first thing, and after scouring a couple likely spots for tuna, with no luck, I worked back in to the color change. I thought I was in the meat when I saw some birds picking in some grass, but instead of dolphin, we got slammed by the big blufish! I heard about schools of them all up and down the line. Anyway, I worked back offshore, and we caught three big gaffer dolphin all at once, the biggest, a 30 pounder, on a TLD. A couple more missed bites took us up until 2:30 when we hooked two large somethings. One pulled off, and the other broke our line as I was backing down. Still not sure what they were. Around the fleet was a little bit of everything here and there. ![]() ![]() Fishing Blog Archive
