Outer Banks Fishing ReportApr
10 It was a beautiful day in the bluewater, but the trolling strikes were hard to come by. We did manage to find something to keep us occupied for a little while.
I started shallow, and worked out to 1000 fathoms. Finally I came across fragments of a weed line way out in the deep. It looked beautiful, and I expected to get hammered by the gaffers, or get a blue marlin bite, but nothing doing. By noon, I had heard of one wahoo, one dolphin, and a couple kings caught in the fleet. Most of the boats, including us, hadn't had a bite. Since there was very little current (I know, less current is supposed to improve fishing...whatever), I headed for a spot that can produce good catches of tilefish and grouper. It paid off, and we made our day in an hour. By the end of the day, I had heard a couple tunas reported as being caught, to go along with the other trolling catches I previously mentioned. I know my group will be eating good when they get back to Virginia! ![]() ![]() ![]() Fishing Blog Archive
