Outer Banks Fishing ReportMar
24 We had a mixed bag today, all at once.
Fishing was pretty good today, an assortment of bluefin, yellowfin, and blackfin tunas as well as a handful of wahoo bites. We caught a blackfin tuna, out of two bites, first thing this morning, and then it was 10:50 before we had another bite. There had been some nicer bluefins seen, so I told Jay to change out a few of our 50s with 80s, in case we got a big bite. Ok, you're gonna like this. We had seven bites all at once, and hooked four fish. The first fish in was a wahoo, on an 80. Next was a yellowfin tuna, also on an 80. 50 minutes later, we landed a 100 pound bluefin, of course, on a 50. One more to go, and it was going to turn out to be another bluefin, on a 50, that took an exhausting four hours to land on the lighter gear. He weighed 190 pounds. By the time we snapped a few shots and burried him in the box under some ice, it was 3:00, and we were out of there. I guess you could say we had non stop tuna action all afternoon! ![]() ![]() ![]() Fishing Blog Archive
