Outer Banks Fishing Report

Feb
17
It was a beautiful morning, so for a change of pace, I decided to head to the deep south.

The last couple of times I went tuna fishing to the east, I wound up battling a bunch of current and not catching as much as I had hoped. The satellite shot showed an edge to the south, so I headed way on down there to check it out. I thought we were going to be in the meat, not long after we started, we caught a nice wahoo. Another mile down the break, and we caught two out of three yellowfin bites. It was only 9:00. I hadn't planned on that being all I was going to catch, but it was the case. I worked off to the hundred, and got into some 75 degree water, but there was close to four knots of tide, and no life. I worked back in to the break, and up to the northeast, but only had one more bite that we pulled off. Two boats fished southeast of the tower, and each caught a wahoo, and a handful of blackfins. One of them caught a few yellowfins too. Two others fished up to the east, and didn't do much, just a couple of tunas. It was a beautiful day none the less, and we had a fun trip.<
