Outer Banks Fishing ReportOct
7 Let me just say for the record that it doesn't get any prettier than today. Calm seas and an insignificant ammount of current.
We pulled off a couple wahoo bites this morning, and as I trolled off the break, the water temperature cooled off. I decided to point her offshore for a while, in the hopes of finding a good edge. As I crossed the hundred, I couldn't help but take a look around my favorite grouper spot, since I was in the neighborhood. They were there, and with a slack current, I couldn't resist. We did well, and passed the rest of the morning catching groupers and tilefish. We caught our limit of snowy groupers (8 fish, 1 per person), and a 24 pound warsaw grouper. We landed a dozen grey tiles, and one sand tile, which was the first of those I have ever caught. We also caught a few almaco jacks, which resemble an amberjack. We decided to go back to trolling, and that worked out pretty well too. We caught three out of seven wahoo bites and a dolphin for the afternoon. What a day! ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Fishing Blog Archive
