Outer Banks Fishing ReportOct
12 Fishing was pretty good today, especially the dolphin fishing.
The winds were out of the northwest 20-25 this morning, so when I finally found some grass, it was streaked out the worst it's ever been. We fished the break for a while, and caught one wahoo, and released a barracuda. Working back inshore, I noticed a faint rip forming up, so I tried to follow it down the beach. We came across two big schools of dolphin, but they were reluctant to bite. I went as far south as I cared to, dropped offshore of the change ½ mile, and started working back up the beach. We got lucky and caught one out of a doubleheader sailfish. The second fish wouldn't go for the switch. Anyway, looking back inshore, I could see the grass getting tighter on the rip, so I dropped back in to look around for more dolphin. This time they cooperated. It took a couple of schools, but we managed to catch 60. Nice size bailers too. By the afternoon, the wind had fallen out, and it looks like tomorrow is going to be real nice. ![]() ![]() ![]() Fishing Blog Archive
