Outer Banks Fishing ReportNov
11 This morning I added up all the reasons to go east, and the reasons to go south. South won, unfortunately.
The forcast was for a breezing sou'wester, which I would hate to get stuck with a long ride taking it on the chin. The current has been running, and the tuna fishing has been ok, but not ''off the hook''. Plus, the shot showed the temperature change had moved up the beach a couple more miles, so I figured we would try it to the south, along with half of the fleet. It was slow. I worked off to a couple hundred fathoms, and found some grass, and caught some dolphin. It was a start. We worked around and found a couple more schools during the course of the day, and wound up with twenty or so. In the afternoon, I shallowed up and had a few king mackerel bites. There were a few wahoo bites, although I didn't have one, and a couple of tunas caught to the south. The live baiters did better today, and the boats that went to the east for tuna found that the current had dropped out some, and the fishing was actually better than it has been. The wind that was forcasted never really got to the boats to the east, so they wound up having a pretty nice ride home. Oh well, it could have gone either way.<s ![]() Fishing Blog Archive
